Tehran, YJC. Iranian UNESCO official has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is going ahead with social and cultural development.
Mohammad Reza Saeedabadi, Secretary General of Iran's
National Commission of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO), made the remarks at Conference on 'Sustainable
Development, Social Development and Empowerment of Women' in Rasht on Sunday.
He further noted that UNESCO has two main goals of peace and
development.
He said that the United Nations believes that peace must be
established based on people's mind and thought, so that it needs culture
building and constant education.
Saeedabadi said that empowerment of women is needed to
achieve the two main goals of the UNESCO.
He said that women presence and their effective role help
the international peace.
The official also said that women have major role in
economic growth and development adding that by using social and cultural
capacities, the ground for fulfillment of economic development plans in Iran
have been prepared.
He maintained that the aim of UNESCO is sustainable
development and that the slogan for following the goal is 'Today for Tomorrow'.
