TEHRAN, December 8 - Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli blasted Trump’s recent decision on recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as ‘capital’ of Israel, saying that Trump has made a very big ‘strategic mistake’.

Iran’s minister calls Trump’s embassy move ‘strategic mistake’TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Former presidents of the US have refused to relocate US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds so far because they had been aware of global negative reactions, however Trump and government of US businessmen is not aware of aftermaths of their moves, the minister said.

“Opposition of presidents of other countries and international organization to the move shows the strategic mistake of Trump in the region,” he said.

He called the US administration’s measure ‘provocative’, saying that the US move in recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as capital of ‘Israel’ is apparent violation of international resolutions since the city is regarded as an occupied land under the UN resolutions.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday defied global warnings and said the US formally recognizes Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel, and will begin the process of moving its embassy to the occupied city, breaking with decades of American policy.

Washington’s al-Qud move has raised a chorus of outcry across the international community. The Muslim world, the United Nations and even US allies in the West have warned against its realization, saying it would plunge the already tumultuous region into new upheaval.
