TEHRAN, November 28 - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held separate meetings with Afghan leaders on the sidelines of the Geneva Conference on Afghanistan.

Iran’s FM meets Afghan leaders in Switzerland

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In one of the meetings on Tuesday, Zarif held talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on issues of mutual interest, including the peace process in Afghanistan.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan and the Kabul government’s plans to press ahead with the peace process.

Issues in bilateral ties including the progress made by the Iran-Afghanistan joint technical committees, water management, and security cooperation between the two sides in the fight against terrorism and insecurity were among other subjects discussed by Zarif and Ghani.

In another meeting on Tuesday, Zarif and Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah took stock of the agenda of the conference and the latest developments in Afghanistan including the peace process and the battle against terrorism.

Organized by the UN and the government of Afghanistan, the Geneva Conference kicked off on Tuesday with high-ranking officials from over 60 countries as well as many representatives from international bodies in attendance.
