Friday, 13 August 2021 (YJC)_ Spokesman of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration announced that the country is going to import 40mln doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Iran’s FDA Spox Iran to Import 40mln More Doses of Coronavirus VaccineSpokesman of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Kianoush Jahanpour announced that the country is going to import 40mln doses of COVID-19 vaccine by early fall.

“So far Iran has imported more than 21 milion doses of Coronavirus Vaccine and is going to import 40 million additional doses,” he said.

 He went on to add that “This is in addition to the vaccines being produced domestically and overall, 120 million doses of vaccines from foreign and domestic sources will be provided.”

Previously, amid surge in the country’s reported COVID-19 deaths, Iran’s new President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi has ordered the foreign ministry and health officials to accelerate imports and injection of coronavirus vaccine.

Also, the supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the military to help the health authorities to step up the vaccination campaign and to make sure the standard operating procedures of COVID-19 are respected by the people.

Moreover, In line with the Leader's order for stepped-up vaccination and boosted fight against the COVID-19, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri ordered all his forces to assist the health ministry to treat patients.
