Tuesday, 28 September 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman said he was surprised over Azerbaijani President’s remarks about the military drills held in areas North-West of the country.
During his remarks on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said he was surprised over Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks about the military drills held in areas North-West of the country.
First, he referred to the fact that Iran and Azerbaijan have good and respectful relations and said “The way Aliyev expressed the remarks was surprising, it is a sovereignty issue and only is related to Iran.”
“In a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan have seriously discussed this issue and other subjects,” he said while noting that “They also have agreed to continue the talks in a proper ground.”
“The military exercises in the Northwest regions of Iran were a sovereign issue with the aim of bringing security peace and stability in the region.”
Elsewhere in his remark. Khatibzadeh said “Iran wouldn’t tolerate the presence of the Israeli regime near the borders of the country; we would do whatever it deems necessary for its security.”
Previously, Aliyev said he is “very surprised” by Iran’s decision to hold military drills close to their border.
