"Iran has counted as Syria’s loyal friend at all times,” the Syrian FM said in a meeting with Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in Damascus on Sunday.
The Iranian Majlis speaker arrived in the Damascus earlier in the day planning a tour of regional countries.
The Syrian foreign minister said Larijani’s visit to the Arab country was to be considered of great significance since a lot of "consecutive and rapid events” have been taking place across the region.
The Iranian Majlis speaker plays a leading role in maintaining "brotherly ties” between Iran and Syria, the Syrian diplomat asserted.
The visiting Ali Larijani, for his part, hoped for a "bright future” for Syria, and reiterated that Syrians should not change their focus from "resistance” as the only way to gain victory.
The top Iranian legislator also took part in separate meetings with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as well as parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in the course of his stay in Damascus.
