Tehran, YJC. Senior Iranian lawmaker has rejected recent remarks by Turkish president on Iran seeking regional domination.
Iranian MP and head of the Majlis National Security and
Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in answer to a question on
Turkish President Recep Tayyep Erdogan’s recent claims "If we want to grant
Turkish government’s policies as a chain, in the past years there have been
numerous such negative links which have met failure, of which Syria is a prime
example.”
Erdogan claimed that Iran is playing role in Yemen to create
a Shia domination in the region.
For years the
Turkish government has armed terrorists and helped with training them, so much
so that it has even neglected Iran’s neighborhood right, Boroujerdi stated.
He added that
Ankara followed the same policy on Iraq, he noted, adding "Despite the fact
that we have always respected our Islamic neighbor (Turkey), which is itself a
policy with the Islamic Republic, it can be said that such shifts of position
by the Turkish government have never been welcome.”
He further stated that Erdogan’s statement on Iran seeking a
Shia domination is quite wrong, pointing out that Tehran has most of all helped
fighters from the Sunni sect, such as the Islamic Jihad and Hamas groups.
