TEHRAN, July 14, YJC - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said the US has failed to comply with the spirit of the nuclear deal in practice, because it does not allow Iran to completely use the JCPOA benefits.

Zarif: US fails to comply with JCPOA spirit in practiceTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “The US has failed to fulfill commitments to the JCPOA spirit since it refuses to allow Iran enjoy complete benefits of the agreement,” he told reporters in New York.

He said that none of the side (of the nuclear deal) has managed to obtain what they had wanted and this is a multilateral agreement. “We expect all sides to abide by the agreement.”

He also referred to U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s remarks, saying that regional events are the results of “US short-sighted policies.”

“Unfortunately, a crisis we are facing in the region currently is the results of years of US short-sighted policies and interference in the region which led to escalating extremism and terrorism in our region as it was expected.”

Zarif further continued that Iran is in the front line of fighting extremism and terrorism in the region and, “We are so happy that people of the region, Iraq and Syria as we as their governments and their military could drive out terrorism and extremism from their territories.”

Zarif then noted that Iran supports sustainable ceasefire in Syria except for terrorist and extremist groups, especially ISIL and al-Nusra.

He then said that no meeting has been set between him and his US officials.
