Tehran, YJC. The City Council of Tehran has chosen to name one of the city’s thoroughfares after the deceased fire-fighter.
In its 550th open session, the City Council of Tehran
decided to name one of the city’s roads after Omid Abbasi who heroically bought
death to save a mother and two children last week.
In this session, Habib Kashani, member of the Planning and
Budget Commission of the City Council, pointed to Abbasi’s funeral on Sunday
and said "Sunday was a glorious day for society and for humanity, a society in
which darkness grows and brightness fades away. In a society where murder,
looting, and armed theft are seen, we could, thanks to the devoutness of this
fireman, take pride in ourselves and in humanity.”
He then demanded that the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans
Affairs change its rules to include those like Omid Abbasi under their
considerations.
