Tehran, YJC. Turkish military jets staged an aerial attack on the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) headquarters in the Kandil Mountains of northern Iraq on Wednesday night.
Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) had observed that PKK terrorists were resettling the hideouts which had been destroyed by Turkish jets. After getting the UAV images showing the terrorists' resettlement, eight fighter jets of Turkish Air Forces (THK) took off from the Diyarbakır Airbase and hit 12 different targets in and around the PKK's Kandil headquarters over two hours.
In a related operation, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) launched heavy artillery attacks from Hakkari's Çukurca district against a group of PKK terrorists in northern Iraq. The attack, which started at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, lasted for half an hour.
The PKK, which is fighting for autonomy in Turkey's mainly Kurdish Southeast, was founded on Marxist ideology. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives. The group is labeled a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States, which has supplied Predator drones to assist Turkey.
