Tehran, YJC. After delays in South Pars expansion, the Hengam project for increasing oil production was inaugurated on Thursday as the President’s only project in this field.

Mehr News Agency reports that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had announced the operation of new South Pars phases where Iran’s gas production was to be doubled. But none of the joint projects in oil and gas layers of the South Pars are operational. Therefore, instead of inaugurating South Pars phases, the President has inaugurated an oil project in the Persian Gulf.

The early phase of Hengam joint oil field was inaugurated by the Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi in September 2010. Currently the production of oil from this oil field has quadrupled to reach 30 thousand bbl per day.

The Iranian Offshore Oil Company stated in an announcement "The project for increasing Hengam shared field 30 thousand bbl per day was inaugurated with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday July 11.”
