Tehran, YJC. Iran has added 2 oral drugs for the thalassemic in addition to 3 injected ones produced since earlier.

The Deputy of Drugs of the Food and Drug Organization said "Besides 3 types of injected drugs for the thalassemic, we have produced 2 types of drug that are taken orally, as well as an effervescent tablet.”

Shamsali Rezazadeh said in an interview with the health and medication service of Fars news agency "As for the drugs needed by the thalassemic, currently three companies are producing the injected anti-ferrum for these patients which is similar to the foreign sample Desferal. The good news is that the drugs have been favorably taken the patients and that no side effects are reported.”

The Food and Drug official added "The patient’s oral medicine, whose foreign name is Exjade is produced in the country both licensed by the original company and independently in another firm in Saveh.”

Rezazade also said "In addition to these, there is also a new drug for the thalassemic which is in the form of effervescent pills and is similar to the foreign sample which is also being produced inside the country. So there is no problem regarding the drugs needed by the thalassemic and there is no need to import expensive drugs for these patients from outside.”
