Tehran, YJC. The president has said that his administration is not going to make changes to the country’s foreign policy principles.
Speaking in a meeting at the inauguration of the eleventh-term ministers, Hassan Rouhani pointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said "Mr. Salehi has in the past few years born the weight of the responsibility. He is a knowledgeable, learned, and industrious person.”

"In the new administration, God willing, we will use him in another section. He moved from minister to deputy and will remain in the government. Dr. Salehi is a learned and principled person and no improper behavior has been witnessed about him. Manners and morality are among his prominent characteristics. That of course does not mean that the other fellows do not have this characteristic but some are more prominent in certain traits.”

Rouhani asserted that the foreign policy is no place for propaganda, saying "We have no right to spend foreign policy to get applause.”

"Mr. Zarif is currently the fittest person to adopt the responsibility,” Rouhani further said, pointing to the heavy burden one must carry as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"Any mistake in foreign policy will have heavy consequences. Any wrong position adopted by the officials will mean that it is people who have to pay for it,” Rouhani maintained.

Rouhani stated that this year’s election has been a sign for revision in the country’s foreign policy, adding "It does not indicate, though, a change in the principles and basics of foreign policy, it rather means changing approaches, operations, and tactics in foreign policy.”
