Speaking Sunday evening at the Persian Gulf Supreme Council meeting, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed the need for a realization of the basis for strength and said "Without national identity and cultural roots, a country cannot last; and if it does it would not influence global equations much.”
The President deemed the Persian Gulf as significant and effective in regional and international issues and said "The first priority is that all issues regarding this region and then international issues must be given attention.”
He also provided comments on the security of the Persian Gulf as a fundamental issue to Iran and said there has been no government in the history of Iran that would go for insecurity of the Persian Gulf.
"We should note that as much as there is disagreement between countries of the Persian Gulf region, the enemy fills in the gaps and uses them against our nations. Therefore we must proceed on the path to establishment of and strengthening comprehensive ties based on equity, brotherhood, and truthfulness” the President asserted.
In this meeting issues around the Persian Gulf in cultural, political, economical, and geological spheres were discussed and some initiatives were passed.
