Iran to join int’l labor conference in Switzerland

TEHRAN, June 04 - Iran’s Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Welfare Ali Rabiee will travel to Geneva to attend an annual meeting of the International Labor Conference (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations.

Iran to join int’l labor conference in SwitzerlandTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Iranian minister is scheduled to hold meetings with his counterparts from South Africa, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Finland, Ireland and Croatia on the sidelines of the event.

Rabiee will also deliver a speech to the ILO general assembly, meet with ILO Director-General Guy Ryder, and attend meetings of the labor ministers of Asia and Oceania and labor minister of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The 107th session of the International Labor Conference has begun on May 28 and will continue until June 8. This year's session brings together over 4,000 delegates for talks on the most pressing issues facing the world of work.

Often called an international parliament of labor, ILO establishes and adopts international labor standards and is a forum for discussion of key social and labor questions. It also adopts the UN organization's budget and elects the governing body, according to its website.
