Lavender Pictures is going to make a film about the life of the Iranian Shah during his last two years.
It is said that the British Sir Ben Kingsley will play the leading role, an informed source told YJC.Michelle Nickelson, Co-Chairwoman and Co-Founder of Women in Film and Television, said "We are doing our first feature film, Shah, starring Sir Ben Kingsley as Mohammed Reza Shah. It's a political drama, it is not meant to demonize or glorify Shah, but tell the story of what happened the last 2 years of his life.”
"I have heard from our Iranian associate, that we have been invited by the Ministry of Culture to shoot in Shah's Palace. If we can pull it off, this would be amazing for the project,” she maintained.
Nickleson added "I just thought I would let you know. I am very excited about the project, Gateway Films in the UK, and Lavender Pictures, Kingsley's production company, are the other producers.”
Ben Kingsley also has the role of another Iranian historical figure, Avecina, in his artistic career.
Ben appeared as an Iranian military officer in House of Sand and Fog in 2003 as well.
