TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - According to local media, Palestinian businesses and schools are closed on Monday at the request of the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of the Zionist entity.

In a statement, the group stressed that the general strike would include schools, universities and workplaces. In addition, the Palestinian Arab public is being called to gather in Khan al-Ahmar, the village which is planned to be demolished by occupation forces.

“We appeal to our people (the Palestinians) regarding the need to continue to escalate the popular struggle against all lands threatened with expropriation and demolition, and to strengthen the expressions of solidarity and support for our people in the village of Khan al-Ahmar,” the statement said.

The Jewish law passed by the Knesset in July enshrines the Zionist entity as “the national home of the Jewish people” and says “the right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.”

It also defines Arabic as a language with a “special” status, effectively downgrading it from its de facto status as the Zionist entity’s second official language.
