The Behnam Daheshpour Nowruz Charity Bazaar opened today to raise funds and awareness of the need to unite against cancer.
In commemorating the occasion, Mr. Gary Lewis, UN Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that, "Each year about 8 million people die from cancer worldwide. They are our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, friends – ourselves.
Every year on 4th February the UN commemorates World Cancer Day which gives us a chance to raise our collective voices in the name of improving knowledge around cancer and dismissing misconceptions about the disease.”
The main aim of the bazaar is to finance the construction and equipping of a bunker room. Mr. Lewis added, "I encourage people to support this cause and make a difference. Through our unity – and our contributions – we can make this occasion a place where the end of cancer begins.”
Organized by Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization, the four-day event is taking place at Talash Complex in Valiasr Street from 10h00 to 21h00.
