In his letter, the Iranian president expressed hope that Tehran and Accra would enhance their bilateral and multilateral cooperation given the two countries’ political will and their ample economic capacities.

Independence Day is an official state holiday celebrated in Ghana on March 6. It marks the declaration of independence from Britain in 1957.

In February 2016, Ghana’s then-president John Dramani Mahama paid a visit to Tehran.
It was the first visit by a Ghanaian president to Iran in 37 years.

During that trip, the two sides signed two memorandums of understanding to promote cooperation in the fields of agriculture and standards.

One of the agreements features a joint plan for agricultural cooperation between Tehran and Accra, signed by the two countries’ agriculture ministers.

Head of Iran’s National Standards Organization and Ghana’s foreign minister signed the other document to boost cooperation in the field of standards.
