TEHRAN, Mar 10 - The Israeli regime has launched a series of new airstrikes on the Gaza Strip a night after it targeted civilian infrastructure in the besieged enclave.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The attacks late on Saturday targeted several locations north of Gaza, including two naval facilities.

Israeli regime sources said fighter jets had dropped bombs on locations in Sudaniya, Khan Yunis, Zeytoun and Tuffah.

There were no immediate report of casualties from the attacks which Israeli military sources claimed had targeted positions held by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

However, most of such attacks over the past days, including those coming late on Friday, have mostly targeted civilian infrastructure in an enclave which is under a crippling Israeli siege and is in desperate need of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli military said in a statement that Saturday attacks had come in response to rocket launches by Hamas on areas northwest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

That comes a day after Israeli fighter jets carried out intensive acts of aggression on Palestinian houses and farming land. Palestinian media also reported on Saturday that Israelis had launched an attack on a fishing boat off the Gaza’s coast earlier in the day.

The attacks come amid massive demonstrations by the people in Gaza against the 12-year blockade of the enclave. Hundreds of thousands of Gazans have been protesting on a weekly basis along the security fence separating their land from the occupied Palestinian territories since March 30, 2018, when the Great March of Return began.

Authorities in Gaza said Israel’s violent crackdown on one such protest on Friday had left one Palestinian killed and 48 others injured.

At least 253 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire during the anti-occupation rallies in Gaza since the end of March last year.
