Russia awaits for Ukraine's President Pyotr Poroshenko to stop the military operation in the country's east and to facilitate a peaceful settlement of the conflict, Russian Ambassador to
Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov said after Poroshenko's inauguration on Saturday.
"We regard as top priority the military operation must be stopped," the Russian diplomat said. "Certainly, self-defence militia must stop combat actions from their side as well."
Zurabov said Poroshenko's actions would determine the way Russia would view the president as "a full-fledged partner to settle the situation in Ukraine's east and bring it back to normal."
