"At no time in our nation’s history has there been a greater need for our leaders to appreciate the value of science in formulating public policy," read the letter. The letter made no explicit reference to the covid-19 pandemic and the climate change.

"As American citizens and as scientists, we wholeheartedly endorse Joe Biden for president," it continued.

Biden is running to prevent President Donald Trump from getting reelected in November amid a deep divide in the nation over racial injustice and police brutality in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

During a visit to Kenosha, Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, are set to meet with Blake’s father and other members of his family “to bring together Americans to heal and address the challenges we face,” according to a campaign official.

“What we want to do is – we’ve got to heal. We’ve got to put things together. Bring people together,” Biden said.

Meanwhile, a new Fox News poll showed that voters not just in Wisconsin but also in Arizona, and North Carolina, which Trump won in 2016, now favor Biden.
