Tehran, YJC. The Border Police has said that drones are being tested for protecting borders in eastern provinces.

Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaghari in an interview with Mehr News Agency provided comments on the application of drones in border protection and said "The pilot operation is being performed in two provinces, South Khorasan and Sistan and Baluchestan. Every day a number of flights are performed to test the effectiveness of the drones. We need latest equipments in the field so that the drones can patrol at night and in unfavorable weather.”

"In the near future and when the operation of theses drones is finalized we will use them at other borderlines for better border control,” he added.

Zolfaghari said regarding trespassing borderlines "If anybody enters the forbidden border  zone the border police will first warn him and then give an aerial shot. If the trespasser does not give heed he will be shot. According to the law no responsibility is directed to the border police.”
