Saturday , 3 July 2021 (YJC) _In response to a recent letter from the US Permanent Representative, the Iranian Permanent Representative denied the allegations against Iran and strongly condemned the attacks.

Takht-e Ravanchi: Iran has not been directly or indirectly involved in any armed attacks against the United States in IraqMajid Takht-e Ravanchi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, In his letter to the President of the Security Council stated: “I had acknowledged several times in the past, including in his letters to the President of the Security Council that Islamic Republic of Iran has not been directly or indirectly involved in any armed attacks by any entity or individual against US personnel or facilities in Iraq”.
He added: "Therefore, any attempt to explicitly or implicitly attribute such an accusation to Iran is inaccurate and lacks even the most obvious reliable information to prove it, and is completely baseless, and therefore we categorically reject such claims.
Takhte-Ravanchi stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has categorically rejected the US arbitrary interpretation of Article 51 of the UN Charter to justify its illegal military attack on Syria and Iraq on June 27, and strongly condemned these illegal actions, which violate the sovereignty of the two countries.
The Iranian Permanent Representative added: “The US argument that such attacks were carried out to" prevent "the Islamic Republic of Iran and the so-called" Iranian-backed militias "from carrying out more attacks on US personnel or facilities in Iraq has no real or legal basis.; Because it is based solely on an arbitrary interpretation of Article 51 of the UN Charter, and therefore the US attacks are a clear violation of international law, in particular Article 2 of the UN Charter”.
Iranian ambassador concluded by emphasizing that the recent US attempt to accuse others in the region to cover up its destabilizing activities in the region is doomed to failure.
