UN: Taliban pledge to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers

Monday, 6 September 2021 (YJC)_ The United Nations has said the Taliban are committed to ensuring that humanitarian aid is sent to the Afghan people, as well as to the safety of its staff.

UN: Taliban pledge to ensure the safety of humanitarian workersAfter meeting with Taliban envoy Martin Griffiths in Afghanistan and meeting with Taliban officials, the United Nations said Taliban leaders had promised to ensure the safety of human rights and humanitarian workers.

Griffiths announced on his Twitter account that he had met with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Kabul and wrote that Taliban leaders had pledged to ensure and support the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.

According to Al Jazeera, the United Nations also said in a statement that half of the Afghan people needed humanitarian assistance to survive.
