Tuesday, 7 September 2021 (YJC)_ Despite the tumultuous and irresponsible withdrawal of Britain and its allies from Afghanistan after 20 years of fruitless war and the re-emergence of the Taliban in power, the British Prime Minister said in response to criticism that the country should be proud of its heritage in Afghanistan.

Johnson: We should be proud of the British heritage in Afghanistan! In stark contrast to recent developments in Afghanistan, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that London should be proud of its heritage.

In a statement to both houses of the British Parliament, Johnson praised the British Armed Forces for what it called the establishment of stability and peace in the Central Asian country (!) And for carrying out Britain's largest military evacuation operation since World War II.

In response to growing criticism of him and his foreign minister over the plan to leave the Afghan allies, he said: We can be proud of our forces for everything they have achieved and for the legacy they have left.

Johnson's remarks were criticized by the opposition Labor Party, which said the British government was powerless because the Taliban had taken control of Afghanistan and Britain was frantically trying to oust its personnel, citizens and allies.
