Monday, 25 October 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian ambassador to Syria said that what brings Iran and Russia together is a common goal in Syria.

Iranian Ambassador: A common goal with Russia unites us; We oppose Ankara's policy in Syria"Syria has a different place in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the two countries know each other's intentions well and no one can disrupt these relations," said Iran's ambassador to Syria, Mehdi Sobhani, in an interview with the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan.

Sobhani added:
Iran continues its efforts to develop economic cooperation and help Syria reduce some of its problems, including the supply of electricity, fuel, and basic goods.

Regarding the opening of relations between some Arab countries and Syria, he said:
Iran has a positive view on this issue and welcomes any opening in Syria's foreign relations that benefits the Syrian government and people.

Sobhani said:
What brings Iran and Russia together is a common goal in Syria, and that goal is to defeat terrorism and stand up to terrorists and their international backers. These terrorists and their international supporters planned to overthrow the Syrian government and disintegrate the country. Accordingly, the joint agendas between us and Russia helped Syria. "In my opinion, there is no difference between us and Russia.

Regarding Turkey's presence in Syria, the Iranian ambassador said:
Tehran does not agree with Ankara's policies towards Syria, especially regarding its illegal presence on Syrian soil. Iran's position emphasizes the need for Turkish troops to withdraw from Syria. Foreign countries should not try to determine the fate of the Syrian people under the pretext of supporting them. I very much hope that Turkey will live up to its commitments on Idlib and the M4 route and allow Syria to live in peace.
