Thursday, 4 November 2021 (YJC)_ At the request of Iran, Russia and Turkey, the next round of Astana talks on Syria will be held in the Kazakh capital in mid-December, the Kazakh foreign minister said.
Kazakhstan will host the next round of Astana talks on Syria in mid-December in the town of Nursultan, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Talubardi announced today (Thursday).
According to the Russian news agency Tass, the Kazakh Foreign Minister explained the next round of Astana talks on Syria:
The guarantor countries (Iran, Russia and Turkey) have asked us to organize the next round of the Astana process. The exact date is still under review and will take place around early December.
Talubardi added that the Astana meeting will be attended by representatives of the countries sponsoring the Astana process, namely Iran, Turkey and Russia, the parties involved in Syria and observers.
He said in this regard:
We are currently trying to determine the level of negotiations, with the Deputy Foreign Ministers often representing the guarantor countries.
