Tuesday, 16 November 2021 (YJC)_ In a telephone conversation, the Presidents of Iran and Russia stressed the need to finalize a comprehensive document on long-term cooperation, referring to the two countries' common positions and convergence on bilateral, regional and international issues.
Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ibrahim Raeisi on Tuesday, appreciating the phone call of Russian President Vladimir Putin, called the will of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop trade and economic relations with Russia and said:
We are ready to finalize the comprehensive document of long-term cooperation between the two countries so that the process of further enhancing the relations and cooperation between the two countries can be implemented quickly.
The President stated that Tehran and Moscow are converging and increasing in many international issues:
Countering unilateralism and consolidating multilateralism are among the commonalities of the two countries.
He stressed the need for joint cooperation between the two countries in regional issues and said:
We consider the continuation of the presence of foreigners in Syria against the will of the Syrian people and government and illegal because it threatens the stability and security of this country.
Referring to the developments in Afghanistan, the President noted:
We consider the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan dangerous for the region and this country, and we must be aware of the dangers of this conspiracy.
Raeisi stated:
The Islamic Republic of Iran calls for the establishment of an inclusive government with the presence of all ethnic groups and political groups, and we believe that the formation of such a government can ensure the security of this country.
He further appreciated Russia's position in defense of nuclear rights and stressed the need to lift all sanctions against the Iranian people:
The Islamic Republic of Iran is quite serious in the negotiations, and we are equally serious in securing the rights of our people to lift sanctions.
The President also welcomed Russia's initiative for stability and calm in the Caucasus region. The two sides also stressed in this telephone conversation:
Any change in geopolitics and change of borders of the countries of the region is not acceptable.
In this telephone conversation, Raeisi also thanked the President and the Russian government for their assistance in Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Agreement, as well as in providing the Corona vaccine.
"Tehran and Moscow have common positions and convergence on many issues," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a telephone call.
Moscow supports Tehran's proposals in drafting a new document on long-term cooperation between the two countries, and we are determined to finalize and implement it as soon as possible.
Stressing that Moscow attaches great importance to improving the level of economic relations and finalizing joint investment programs with Iran, the Russian president said:
We are witnessing positive trends for increasing the level of bilateral, regional and international cooperation, and the development of cooperation will undoubtedly accelerate.
Referring to the two countries' cooperation in regional issues, especially Syria, Putin said:
By working together, we were able to preserve the independence of Syria and destroy the terrorist cell in this country. Of course, we must continue our close cooperation, especially in various regional areas.
The Russian president also supported the rights of the Iranian people on the nuclear issue and expressed hope that in the future negotiations, the parties would have sufficient political will to get out of the current situation.
"We are concerned about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh," Putin said.
To increase the level of trust and cooperation in this region, we are looking to launch a 3 + 3 consultative mechanism, and we hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran will also support it.
The Russian President concluded:
Russia is determined to continue cooperating in the fight against Corona and sending vaccine shipments to Iran.
