Thursday, 25 November 2021 (YJC)_ The head of security at the UAE Interior Ministry, who has been accused by human rights organizations of arbitrary actions and torture, has been appointed head of the International Police (Interpol).

The Emirati defendant became the head of InterpolAFP reported today (Thursday) that Ahmed Nasser al-Risi, the UAE Interior Ministry's security chief, has been appointed head of the International Police (Interpol).

According to the official UAE news agency (Wam), al-Risi will head the International Police Headquarters for four years.

Ahmed Nasser al-Risi has been named head of Interpol after human rights groups had previously warned against his election.

Earlier, 11 human rights organizations wrote a letter to the lobbying firm Project Associates calling for an end to the propaganda in favor of Ahmed al-Raisi to take over the presidency of Interpol.
