Wednesday, 1 December 2021 (YJC)_ A Chinese state-run newspaper has called on the parties to the Vienna talks to show honesty and flexibility in order to conclude the talks, stressing the need to lift sanctions on Iran in order to revive the nuclear deal.

China's state-run newspaper: Lifting sanctions is key to reviving the JCPOAAt the same time as the resumption of talks between Iran and the P5 + 1 countries aimed at reviving the nuclear deal within the framework of the Joint Commission, the Chinese media and officials are emphasizing the need to lift sanctions on Iran.

The state-run China Daily wrote in an editorial today (Wednesday) that lifting sanctions is the key to reviving the JCPOA, and that the parties to the Vienna talks must show honesty and flexibility in order for the talks to be successful.

At the beginning of this memo, it is stated that both Washington and Tehran have shown a greater desire to keep JCPOA alive:
After the withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA in 2018 and the re-imposition of unilateral sanctions against Iran, this hard-won agreement survived by artificial respiration.

The newspaper described the resumption of talks on Monday (November 29th) in Vienna as a sign of optimism on all sides to break the deadlock.
In order to turn this positive thinking into a reason to celebrate, the two sides (Iran and the United States) must try to address each other's concerns so that they can meet halfway.

China Daily noted the legitimate demands of the new Iranian negotiating team, including the lifting of all US sanctions, the establishment of a verification mechanism to lift sanctions, and Washington's assurances that future governments would not violate the agreement again.
The United States, as responsible for the collapse of the original agreement, must lift all sanctions against Iran and third parties in order to show its good faith. Iran, in turn, must comply comprehensively with the commitments it agreed to in the 2015 agreement.
