Wednesday, 15 December 2021 (YJC)_ Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, while emphasizing the need for full implementation of the JCPOA, stated that the allegations that the JCPOA has expired are very irresponsible and dangerous.

Moscow: There is no alternative to the JCPOARussia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky told a UN Security Council meeting today (Wednesday) that efforts to portray the JCPOA as an "agreement" were "dangerous and irresponsible."

According to the Russian news agency Tass, the Russian diplomat, referring to the recent atmosphere created against the Vienna talks and the Iran nuclear deal, said:
Allegations that the JCPOA may be outdated and in need of updating, expansion, etc. are dangerous and irresponsible. This agreement has a well-balanced interest balance and should be implemented in the same way as it was approved in 2015, without any omissions or additions.

Polyansky also said:
We can not accept that Burjam has lost its importance due to the "lack of speed" of the Vienna process. At present, there is no alternative to JCPOA.

He clarified:
Thanks to the verification mechanism provided for in this agreement (JCPOA), Iran is the most verified country in the world whose actions have been verified, and also politically, JCPOA has been presented to highlight the ability of the agreement on the most complex issues. .

Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations also called on members of the UN Security Council and other negotiating parties in the JCPOA to show "strategic restraint."

He further added in this regard:
The Vienna talks are now in the international spotlight. Our colleagues now have a very challenging task to bring the implementation of Borjam back to the framework agreed upon in the original. We have to help them.

Polyansky clarified:
We can only do this if we show strategic self-control and refrain from escalating the situation. This is true of all members of the UN Security Council and of Iran's neighbors in the region.

Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations also stressed that Moscow urges all countries to refrain from putting any pressure on the negotiation process to revive the JCPOA.
