The Russian Defense Ministry announced today (Saturday) that the Russian military plane carrying humanitarian aid to Afghanistan had left for Kabul on the orders of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Tass news agency reported today (Saturday).

Two more planes are scheduled to deliver Russian humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Earlier this month, Russia sent three planes of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and evacuated 210 Afghan citizens.

Earlier, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian president's special envoy for Afghanistan and director of the second division in Asia at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that hundreds of thousands of Afghans could leave the country for Europe this winter amid a severe crisis.

He also announced the sending of aid to Afghanistan:
We will soon send the third humanitarian aid to Afghanistan on December 18. Just before the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, three planes will take another group of humanitarian aid to Kabul.
