Iranian and Uzbek officials emphasize expansion of economic cooperation

Thursday, 23 December 2021 (YJC)_ The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Iran stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation in a video conference.

Iranian and Uzbek officials emphasize expansion of economic cooperationUzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardar Omarzaqaf, and Iranian Vice President Mohsen Rezaei stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation between the two countries in a video conference.

During the video meeting, the two sides discussed how and prospects for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

The parties stressed:
Mutual contacts between the Presidents of the two countries in the framework of the recent meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the 15th meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have given a new leap to intensify relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uzbekistan.

Referring to the field of investment cooperation, the two sides emphasized the wide possibilities for the implementation of new projects in the fields of production of construction materials, agriculture, fisheries, pharmacy, electrotechnics, chemical and light industries.

There is also agreement on setting up and searching for partners to implement priority projects.

Paying special attention to trade exchanges, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the positive course of trade between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uzbekistan, while trade between the two countries has increased by 74.4% in the last 11 months of this year.

They also agreed on the need to intensify mutual cooperation in strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
