The Turkish president on Saturday promised that Turkey would continue to grow through investment and production.
According to the "Ahwal" website, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed in his speech that his government would make the country one of the top 10 economies in the world. The remarks came as the country faced sharp inflation and a weakening Turkish lira against the dollar in the economic crisis this year.
In his speech, Erdogan said:
We are closer than ever to our goal of making Turkey one of the top 10 economies in the world. All we want is to ensure that our country continues to grow through investment, employment, production, exports and current account surpluses, and thus achieve our goals as soon as possible.
Erdogan reiterated his fiscal policies on Saturday, saying they have been as successful as those waiting for the Turkish economy to collapse. Erdogan said:
I am an economist, this is my job.
