Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister and Director of the Iranian National Gas Company Hamid Reza Araqi said that the Iranian company and the Russia Gazprom have formed joint workgroup.
Speaking to Mehr news agency, Araqi said that besides the
joint workgroup, Iran and Russia have agreed on three major contracts in gas.
He explained that the three agreements concern construction
and operation of gas projects, education, and international activities.
"Gazprom had previously expressed readiness to take part in
a number of Iran’s gas projects,” he said, adding "The joint workgroup that has
been formed by the two countries is investigating the ways of cooperation
between Iran and Russia.”
The joint work concerns merely education and implementation
of projects, he said and asserted that no agreement has been made for the two
countries to attend global markets in as synchronized partners.
He also pointed out that Iran has made great advancement in
CNG technology and experience and said that it is likely that the country would
exports its knowhow on CNG to Russia "Since compared to Iran, Russians have not
made much progress.”
Araqi then said that Iran is ready to cooperate with Russia on
new natural gas reservation plans.
"Right now a large number of areas exist in which Iran and Russia
could cooperate on gas. It is expected that in the future more gas contracts
are made between the countries,” he asserted.
