FM Declares Sanctions on Suspects Ordered Assassination of Gen. Soleimani

Sunday, 9 January 2022 (YJC)_ The Iranian foreign ministry sanctioned several persons who have been involved in the assassination of Martyr Soleimani.

FM Declares Sanctions on Suspects Ordered Assassination of Gen. SoleimaniIn a statement updated the counter-terrorism designations, the Iranian foreign ministry declared sanctions against several persons who have ordered, perpetrated or cooperated in the assassination of Martyr Soleimani.

This statement released in accordance with the “Act on Countering Violations of Human Rights and Adventurist and Terrorist Actions of the United States of America in the Region”, particularly, Articles 4 and 5.

Also, previously the American individuals, including “Donald Trump, Michael Pompeo, John Bolton, Mark Esper, Gina Haspel, Christopher Miller and Steven Mnuchin and also Matthew Tueller, Steven Fagin and Rob Waller,” were listed respectively on 19 January 2021 and 23 October 2020 under the list of sanctions by Iran.

The foreign ministry identifies and imposes sanctions on the above-mentioned persons for their role in the terrorist act of the US against Martyr Soleimani and his companions, in glorification of terrorism and in violating the fundamental human rights.

 According to the statement these people have their contribution in “decision-making, organizing, financing, and carrying out the terrorist act.”

The statement also noted that “Such terrorist acts will not make Iran taken from its determination and resolve in following the path of the revered General Soleimani in fighting terrorism.”

On January 3, 2020, in an attack ordered by then US President Donald Trump, General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and ten of their deputies were martyred by an armed drone strike as their convoy left Baghdad International Airport.

In a relevant remark during his remarks in the commemoration ceremony of the second martyrdom anniversary of Lt. General Ghasem Soleimani held at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry the IRGC Quds Force commander Esmaeil Ghaani said that Iran is standing at the peak of resistance, Islamic unity and convergence.
