North Korean state media (KCNA) reported, quoting the country's armed forces, that they had tested two tactical guided missiles on Monday morning.

According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea says that these short-range ballistic missiles were "Kian 24" type that were successfully tested.

"Two tactical guided missiles fired in the western region of North Korea hit exactly one island target in the East Sea," the statement said. "The Academy of Defense Sciences has confirmed the accuracy and safety and efficiency of the weapons system under production."

The Japanese Coast Guard issued a warning at 08:54 on Monday (local time) about the possible launch of a ballistic missile from North Korea. The Japanese Ministry of Defense also announced the possibility of a launch. After 10 minutes, information appeared that the rocket had landed.

The Japanese government later condemned North Korea's new missile tests and announced the formation of a special crisis headquarters at the prime minister's office.

This was North Korea's fourth test in less than two weeks. Pyongyang has used the Sea of ​​Japan in recent years to test a number of new short-range ballistic missiles, but it also recently unveiled a new missile fired from a train car, aimed at increasing survival in the face of another country's attack.
