The British Foreign Office announced on Friday that it had temporarily closed its embassy in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
According to the British Foreign Office, the activities of the British Embassy in Ukraine have been moved to the city of Lviv, in western Ukraine and near the Polish border.
Last week, the US State Department announced that it had closed its embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and relocated all diplomatic activities of the US embassy to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv (near Poland).
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement about the closure of the US embassy in Kiev:
We temporarily suspended the US embassy in Kiev due to the increase in Russia's military presence (on the Ukrainian border).
He continued:
A limited team will be present near a city in Poland for diplomatic activities.
