Tehran, YJC. Head of Iran's Judiciary Branch says Iran would have defiled its national dignity if it had accepted excessive demands by Western nuclear negotiators.

Head of Iran's Judiciary Branch ayatollah Amoli Larijani speaking at a meeting with Judiciary officials on Wednesday said "Western powers would on occasions speak arrogantly and demand that we would have 500 centrifuges. It is a pity that some people in the country would also speak in unison with them, which was a great mistake.”

"Like any other developing country, ours needs all sorts of energy resources. Iran is walking the path of developments and it will need electricity evermore. Thus it needs to tap all energy resources, including the nuclear one.”

He asserted "Backing down from the nation’s nuclear rights is in fact backing down from the dignity and independence of the Iranian nation. Reducing the number of centrifuges is not in fact only a materialistic retreat, but will leave great spiritual impacts in terms of the Iranian nation’s dignity, pride, independence, and self-image.”

He thanked the government and the nuclear negotiation team and said that Iranian officials will continue to preserve their stance as steadfastly as before.

"Being able to produce the nuclear fuel is very important because it will make us independent of foreign powers who may chose not to give it to us if we were to take it from them,” he asserted.
