Thursday, 3 March 2022 (YJC)_ The UAE ambassador to the United States, referring to the tough test for relations between Abu Dhabi and Washington, expressed confidence that both sides would pass this stage.
"The UAE ambassador to the United States, Youssef al-Atiba, said:
The UAE-US relationship is in a high-pressure test, and I'm sure we will both get through it.
According to Reuters, he added that the UAE is ready to participate in defense activities with all companies and countries, adding:
But it also seeks to develop an organic defense industry for greater self-sufficiency. It is very difficult to build a proper defense system to prevent drone attacks.
According to Al-Jazeera, the Emirati official continued his speech at the Defense Technology Conference in Abu Dhabi:
There is concern about the United States, and I see that it is becoming more polarized. Strengthening US unity is better for the world, but I'm afraid it will not happen.
Abu Dhabi voted unanimously in favor of a UN resolution condemning Russia's military action in Ukraine [despite Moscow's veto] at a Security Council meeting last Friday.
