Thursday, 3 March 2022 (YJC)_ Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations said the recent UN General Assembly's resolution against Russia lacked impartiality.

Takht Ravanchi: UN Resolution against Russia Lacked ImpartialityIran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi said the recent UN General Assembly's resolution against Russia lacked impartiality.

“The current text of the resolution before the General Assembly lacks impartiality and realistic mechanisms, there was not the equal opportunity to engage in opportunity for all members,” he said.

“The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine is of great importance for Iran,” he said while adding that “sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be fully respected.”

“The provocative actions and decisions of the US and NATO makes the current situation in region of Eastern Europe more complex. The security concerns of Russia must be respected.”

The UN General Assembly on Wednesday voted in favor of a US- and Albania-drafted anti-Russian resolution. A similar resolution was not upheld in the Security Council because Russia-- a permanent member, vetoed it.
