Takht-e-Ravanchi Urged UNDGC to Scale up Anti-Sanctions EffortsAddressing a session of the UN's Committee on Information, Iran’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi calls on UNDGC to scale up anti-sanctions’ efforts.

He went on to urge the UN department to increase its efforts to broadcast the negative consequences that the unilateral bans on the target nations and noted “Sanctions had weakened economic growth in the target countries and prevented their access to basic medical equipment and materials by restricting access to overseas' financial resources."

Iranian lawmaker also described deployment of the coercive economic measures as the contrary to the principles of the international law specified in the UN Charter.

Elsewhere in his remarks he said “some Western anti-Islam media outlets and officials are creating "an atmosphere of hatemongering" around Islam and Muslims around the world by fueling Islamophobia.”

He, finally, urged the international community to condemn this phenomenon and take the necessary measures.
