Tuesday, 10 May 2022 (YJC)_ Referring to the follow-up with the Afghan side to allocate Iran to Helmand, the Iranian Foreign Minister said: "Considering the existence of a registered international agreement, if there is a violation in this regard, we will follow up internationally."

Amir-Abdollahian: If there is a violation about Helmand, we will follow up in the international communityForeign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a public session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly today and in response to a question from the representative of the people of Zabul in the Islamic Consultative Assembly regarding the situation of allocating Iran's water from the Helmand River said:
We are not satisfied with the interim governing body of Afghanistan regarding the Helmand River and we believe that they could have done better on the water issue than in previous months.

He added:
In direct talks with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and the follow-up of our Special Representative for Afghanistan, we have heard from them for the second time in recent months that they have recognized and emphasized Iran's support for Helmand.

Referring to the meeting of the Joint Commission of Iran and Afghanistan on the Helmand River and the release of water from the Kamal Khan Dam in Afghanistan to Iran in recent months, the Foreign Minister said:
A small part of this water came to us and the reservoir of the dam is running out, and of course there have been sabotages in Afghanistan in this regard.

Amir-Abdollahian added:
At the time of the reservoir increase, we requested water release from the Afghans, who raised the issue of dredging, and after we announced our readiness to assist with the dredging, the Afghan governing body announced that $ 3 million in financial assistance was needed.

He continued:
Afghanistan's governing body has agreed to pay Iran's ransom, but now blames water shortages for the delay.
