Tehran, YJC. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei is scheduled to have a group of Iranian environmental officials and activists as guest on Sunday.

Adviser to head of Iran's Department of Environment Esmail Kahrom said the meeting will take place on the occasion of the Natural Resources Week.

Each yea Ayatollah Khamenei plants a sapling on Arbor Day as a symbolic gesture of respect for the Mother Nature.

Last year he called for comprehensive effort to protect the environment in Iran, and urged a halt to the environmental damage caused by the new constructions.

The Supreme Leader also acknowledged the work of all the personnel engaged in the development of the country’s environment resources and said, "I ask the officials and the whole people to care about the issue of the green space, and not to let the country and the people’s lives to be deprived of such perfect gift from God.”
