Combined-cycle solar power plant inaugurated in Yazd

The 484 megawatt solar power plant was inaugurated by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Yazd.

After unveiling the project for Ardakan Ghadir Iranian Steel, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in his one-day visit to Yazd province officially inaugurated the combined-cycle power plant in Yazd.

Situated in the North-eastern side of Yazd, the power plant is one of the most important ones in country.

The power plant uses concentrated solar energy technology to evaporate water in order to produce electricity.

The power plant is the first in the world to use natural gas and solar energy in producing power.

The newly constructed power plant will produce circa 3,325 kilowatt hours electric power per year.
