French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault is visiting Iran in January to attend Iran-France joint economic forum.
"This meeting was a necessary meeting. I will visit Tehran in January for Iran-France economic forum,” Ayrault said after a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi who is in France for the second round of political talks between Tehran and Paris.
"We hope that all sanctions against Iran will be removed. Expanding bilateral ties with Tehran is quite important for us especially in economic fields,” he said.
The second round of talks was held in line with a MoU signed during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s last year visit to France.
During the meeting, the two sides investigated the roadmap of boosting bilateral ties signed during Rouhani’s visit as well as progress in cooperation of Iranian and French ministries and institutions.
The two sides agreed to hold the next round of talks in Tehran in 2017.
