Iran summoned Danish Ambassador to Tehran Danny Annan following attack on the country’s embassy in Copenhagen.
In a meeting between foreign ministry's director for Northern and Eastern Europe affairs and the ambassador, the Iranian official expressed Iran’s severe objection to the move, and said the measure runs counter to internationally-accepted rules as well as internal regulations of Denmark.
It shows Danish government’s weak performance in providing security and peace of the embassy staff, the Iranian official said.
The official called for firm, responsible and serious measure of Danish government to deal with the perpetrators of the attack and report the results.
The foreign ministry official said that repeating attack against Iranian embassy and lack of any serious and deterrent action by Denmark has put Danish government’s will and intention into question and it can damage growing ties between the two sides.
Danny Annan, for his part, called the attack ‘unacceptable’ and said. "The message is clear.”
He vowed to relay Iran's protest to his government as soon as possible, and notify Iranian authorities of the outcome.
