TEHRAN, July 3, YJC - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Belarusian counteraprt Alexander Lukashenko over the country’s Day of Independence.

Rouhani congratulates Belarusian Day of IndependenceTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a message to Lukashenko, Rouhani expressed hope that friendly ties between Iran and Belarus would be expanded further in line with interests of the two sides.

Earlier in February, Belarus Parliament Speaker Mikhail Myasnikovich in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran voiced his country's willingness to expand trade and economic relations with Iran.

"Belarus attaches special importance to expansion of relations with Iran and we have many plans to boost cooperation in many areas," Myasnikovich said during the meeting.

The Belarus speaker said that many companies from Belarus are active in Iran and many Iranian companies in Belarus.

"Belarus companies are interested in further expansion of economic relations between Tehran and Minsk and support growing activity of Iranian companies in Belarus," he added.

Zarif, for his part, said that with the removal of sanctions imposed against Iran there will be no problem at work for development of Iran-Belarus economic and banking cooperation.

In relevant remarks in early December, senior Iranian and Belarus officials in a meeting in Minsk underlined the need for the further expansion of all-out relations, specially parliamentary ties, between the two countries.

During the meeting in Belarus capital, Iranian Ambassador to Minsk Mohammad Reza Sabouri and Chairman of Belarus Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Sergey Rakhmanov discussed exchange of visits by the two countries' parliamentary friendship groups.

The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

The senior Belarus lawmaker said that Iran and Belarus have good potentials for cooperation in all areas, in the field of parliamentary affairs in particular.

Rakhmanov underlined that the enhancement of parliamentary cooperation can deepen socio-cultural relations between the two countries.

Iranian ambassador, for his part, underlined the key role played by parliaments of Iran and Belarus in boosting cooperation between Tehran and Minsk.
