Tehran, YJC. Writer says that barely anyone in the world knows that the number of Iranian chemical warfare veterans exceeds the number of souls lost in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
In
the book launch party for his recent Journey Told by Coughs, Hamid
Hesam said that Iran has had more chemical warfare veterans than Hiroshima-Nagasaki
casualties.
He
said that two questions on his mind have lead to the composition of the book,
one being the atomic bombardment of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the other the
chemical bombardment of Iran during the Iran-Iraq war.
He
added "67 years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima the world has realized the
mistake.”
"I
have to admit that the hunter and the game have changed places in the world so
that Harry Trueman’s grandson must head guests at the A-bom memorial in Japan. But
few in the world know that the number of our chemical warfare veterans exceeds
the those killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is a great lesson whereby we
have been able to expose the depth of the catastrophe.”
